The raid of the 3rd of October 1987 resulted with 300 arrests and 120 searchs including Anaï Artea’s premises. The consequences are meaningful: 50 refugees had to escape 200 refugees were handed to the spanish authorities some of whom testify having been tortured. 27 refugees and 9 French citizens will be put in jail. The raids used a law that dates back to the Vichy government. Anai Artea reacts with a communique on the 6th of January 1987 ending with: « However every refugges were expelled, the Basque issue would still be an issue; blind repression will not solve the problem. It is high time that the authorities look for a path to negociate the peace.
